Love what we’ve said? Think we’re talking nonsense? Don’t worry about being polite, just let us have it. We’re not afraid of telling you that you’re talking crap, so don’t be afraid of telling us the same.
Somewhere Else I
- More examples of the new Vista operating system. Microsoft look like they are slowly simplifying but there are still way too many options lurking in those menus. How many people need to know that much about their network?
- An FAQ on English. The people behind the Scrabble bible provide an interesting resource for writers and those interested in our language.
- Designing Your Applications for Usability. A DevSource 8-minute video interview with Dr. Jakob Nielsen. Annoyingly this is in the dreaded Windows Media format.
- Spore. Will Wright talking at the 2005 Game Developer’s Conference about ‘Spore‘. Looks superb.
- Tom Baker reads your texts. Send a text message to your BT landline and BT will call you back so that Tom Baker can read your text message to you. Genius.
- Brilliant information design. Ben Fry creates one of the best looking and functionally brilliant information graphics I’ve seen in a long time. The Tuftian in me loves the information density, the multivariant data display and the economy of the deisgn; I knew nothing about Baseball before this, and now I know I like the Chicago Whitesox and the Cleveland Indians for their ability to do so well spending so little. Incidentally, the graph was built using Processing, an open source programming library and environment for interactive media design.
- The Visual Dictionary. Photographs of words in the real world.
